Pencil Break is made by Two Eleven Jay LLC. Here is everything it keeps and counts.
On your device
Your record (wins, losses, streaks, pencils broken, today's daily match and your settings) lives in a cookie called pb in your own browser. It never leaves your device except as part of normal requests to this site, and we do not read it on the server. Clear your cookies and it is gone.
Anonymous counts
To see whether people enjoy the game, the game counts a few things and sends them to our own server, never to anyone else:
- a visit, and whether you have visited before
- opening the how-to
- starting a match (daily or free play, and the difficulty)
- how each of your strikes and holds went (for example "clean hit" or "too tight") with the wind and grip levels
- how a match ended, how many strikes it took and how long it lasted
- pressing the share button
Along with that we keep a rough device type (phone, tablet or desktop), a rough screen size, the name of the website that linked you here (just the site name, not the page), and your country if our network provider tells us.
To tell visits apart, the game puts a random id in a cookie called pbid. It is not linked to your name, email or account, because there are none.
What we never keep
- your IP address
- your browser's user agent string
- anything you type, because there is nothing to type
There are no ads, no third-party scripts, no tracking pixels and no outside fonts. The game makes no requests to any other website.
Opting out
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the game sends nothing at all and never sets the pbid cookie. Your record still works because it stays on your device.
